At the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon, Toyota just revealed the GR Super Sport, a concept hypercar that is designed to compete with companies like Aston Martin and Lamborghini when it comes to street-legal hypercars. The design was inspired by the successful TS050 Hybrid Le Mans prototype.
This is a real gift for Japanese car enthusiasts, even though it’s just a concept right now, it shows Toyota is committed to staying competitive in the sports car game. So far the automotive community seems has welcomed the new concept car with open arms, it was definitely a highlight in Tokyo.
The concept car will get it’s power from a bi-turbo 2.4-liter V6 engine accompanied by the Toyota Hybrid System lifted from the LMP1 car. Details are scarce, but early information suggests the car will be packed with close to a 1,000 horsepower (est. 986 hp). At this time, production dates and numbers are still unknown, hopefully Toyota decides to move forward with the GR Super Sport sooner than later.
