A collector grade 1988 Lamborghini LM002 will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island Event on Friday, March 8, 2019. This US delivery LM002 is one of only 328 examples built by the factory and is highly desirable because the early LM002 models used a carbureted engine which seems to be preferred among enthusiasts. The truck is finished in a white exterior over a black interior and has been cosmetically and mechanically restored back in 2017. Currently it shows 54,000 km (33,000 miles) on the odometer since new.
This LM002 was built on March 17, 1988 and sold on March 29, 1988 by Chrysler Italian Imports of New Jersey. Interestingly enough, there were actually 5 separate LM002’s delivered in the US on that day. The V12 engine is actually fed by a massive 76-gallon gas tank, no that’s not a typo. The LM002 gets roughly 8 MPG and goes from 0-60 MPH in just 7.7 seconds. According to RM Sotheby’s, this rare specimen should bring somewhere between $325,000 – $375,000.
