A rare 1967 Toyota 2000GT will be auctioned off next month at RM Sothebys’ Arizona event. The car will be sold without a reserve and is expected to bring between $600K-$700K. This specific example will be sold from a private collection and is one of only 62 U.S. delivery examples. Making the car even more desirable, it’s one of just six 2000GT’s originally finished in Bellatrix Yellow.
The Toyota 2000GT is described as “the best sports car you’ve never heard of.” Developed in partnership with Yamaha, this two-passenger coupe packed a two-liter inline six-cylinder engine with a cast iron block and double overhead cams, producing 150 hp at 7,000 rpm and a top speed of over 135 mph.
Over the past decade, collectors have started to pay more attention to these cars, which is causing surviving examples to skyrocket in value. The 2000GT is currently considered the most collectible, desirable, and valuable Japanese car ever produced.
